Belgian, born 1992, lives and works in Brussels, Belgium
Jonas Moënne’s work is about the history and folklore of the alps valleys. It takes place in the peculiarity of my family tradition of being both farmers and watch-makers.
His folkloric landscape is crossed by different cultural influences which feed his research. It questions the interactions between the traditions of the Savoyard, the Maghreb and the peasants, which he define as the source of his artistic practice. His practice takes place in a deviation of time, revealing stratas that were not existing before his intervention. The farm is for him a matrix of fiction procuring a visual and conceptual tank that he gladly consider “inexhaustible”.
